DESCRIPTION: Very nice Nazi Walther HP semi-auto pistol. "HP" stands for "Heeres Pistole" (Army Pistol). This was a predecessor and commercial version of the famous Walther P-38, which was one of the best semi-auto pistols of the World War Two. Only about 24,000 Model HP pistols were manufactured from 1937 to 1944. The left side of the slide displays "Walther" banner and following markings, "Waffenfabrik Walther, Zella-Mehlis (Thur), Walther's Patent, Cal. 9m/m, Mod. HP". The address is over stamped with "X", which is a Soviet arsenal repair mark. The right side of the slide has a "Nazi Eagle N" proof mark. The same proof mark is also present on the barrel and some other parts of the pistol. The left side of the frame displays a letter, "P". The serial number is stamped on the right side of the frame and on major parts of the pistol. The pistol has a very nice, high gloss blue finish (correct for the early production pistols). Dark brown bakelite grips with horizontal checkering (correct). Original eight round magazine with Nazi markings, "Nazi Eagle over 359" (stamped in two places) and "P38". No import markings. Very impressive pistol! CONDITION: Excellent. 98-99% of original high gloss blue finish. The pistol shows only a very minor wear to the sharp edges of frame, slide and grip. The bore is in low excellent condition with strong and shiny rifling. The right side of the trigger guard shows some wear and reddish discoloration. This may indicate that the trigger guard was repaired by one of the Soviet arsenals. All matching serial numbers. Dark brown bakelite grips are in excellent condition with only minor handling marks. Mechanically, the pistol is in perfect condition. All the markings and numbers are clearly visible on the metal. All the internal parts of the pistol are in excellent condition, with no visible wear. Very attractive early Walther HP pistol. Serial# 102XX. |
