DESCRIPTION: Standard British
service revolver in the World War Two. Webley Mk. VI revolver
was introduced in 1915, and was declared obsolete in 1947. The
majority of such revolvers were manufactured by Webley &
Scott at Birmingham during the World War I. In 1921, Enfield
Small Arms Factory took over the production of these revolvers,
but it remained known as the "Webley revolver" for
the remainder of its official career. This particular revolver
was manufactured by Webley in 1917, as indicated
by markings on the frame. The revolver is still in its original,
.455 caliber! Matching serial numbers, except for the
cylinder (matching numbers are stamped on the frame and barrel;
the cylinder displays a mismatched serial number). British military
proofs are present on all parts of the revolver. The back of
the hilt displays Royal Navy markings, "N 31".
Single and double action. Barrel length: 6 inches. Six chamber
cylinder. No import markings. Complete with lanyard ring. CONDITION:
Low excellent. 95% of blue finish is still on metal. The
revolver shows an honest service wear. Occasional spots of light
pitting and/or peppering on the hilt. The revolver was most likely
refurbished by a British arsenal long time ago (FTR?). The
bore is in fine condition, with strong and shiny rifling.
The chambers are in excellent condition. Strong action.
All the markings and numbers are clearly visible on the metal.
All the internal parts of the revolver are in fine condition,
with no visible wear. Nice black hardened rubber grips. Nice
example of Webley Mk.VI revolver in its original, .455 caliber!
